2015 in Review #2: 40 Posts in 40 Days

There are 40 days between the first day of the 2015 MLS playoffs on October 28 and the MLS championship on December 6. Orlando City may not be in the playoffs this year, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to reflect on the year that was 2015 and the highs and lows. In addition, I'll be including my evaluation of each player from the first team roster.

Day 2: Worst Match of the Season

The worst match of the season, in my opinion, was the 5 - 3 loss at NYCFC in Yankee Stadium on July 26, 2015. All year we had been equal on or ahead of NYCFC in points, and this loss hurt from the standpoint of putting us behind them in the head-to-head results. The team and the front office were focused on making the playoffs all season, but I was focused first and foremost on beating those two-bit, no-talent clowns playing in a broken-down dump of a rented stadium in the Bronx. I was determined that Orlando City and not NYCFC would be the expansion team that turned heads and frightened opponents when they saw us on the roster.

OK, that is harsh. I really don't hate NYCFC but it felt like we had to manufacture a rivalry with those guys since we were both the new kids on the block, and with their connections to Manchester City in the EPL, it seemed like global money and the big city sports venue would be on NYCFC's side to make a big splash in their first year in the league.

I know there are other games that we lost by larger margins, but this game was the one that stung the most to me.

Do you agree this was the worst loss? If not, tell me which one it was in the comments!
