Pedro Ribeiro was acquired by Orlando City from Philadelphia Union. His impact was felt early on as he seemed to develop a chemistry on the pitch with fellow Brazilian player Kaka. But after midseason his appearances dwindled and he did not seem to achieve the promise his early season form showed.

2015 Summary: Pedro Ribeiro was part of the most exciting two-minute stretch in Orlando City's 2015 season. It came in the March 28 match at Montreal, after Orlando City had fallen behind early 2 - 0. Then in the 29th minute Ribeiro scored a goal from an assist by Kaka, and in the 30th minute Kaka registered a goal with an assist from Ribeiro to draw Orlando City level once more. The first few matches of the season had been a bit frustrating as so many of the young players seemed starry-eyed sharing the pitch with Kaka, and I was hoping that Ribeiro's example would break the spell and show the rest of the younger players how to take charge and get involved in scoring. But Ribeiro was not immune to the nagging injuries that plagued Orlando City in 2015, and he was not able to continue his form consistently throughout the season.
2016 Prediction: I am uncertain about Ribeiro's future with the club. He is a fantastic player and he is exciting to watch when he gets a chance to be on the pitch. However, I think he's one of those players that might be attractive to other clubs in off-season trade deals. There are some players I don't think will return to Orlando City in 2016 because I think the club will want to upgrade from their talent. However, in modern sports, there are going to be some good players that get traded away in order to try to build depth on the team. I think Ribeiro may fall into that category, especially with the emergence of Cyle Larin as such a prolific scorer in 2015. I hope the club find a way to keep Ribeiro for next season, and I hope he plays more consistently than he did in 2015, but I would not be surprised if he winds up getting traded.
What about you? Do you think Ribeiro will be back with Orlando City in 2016, or do you think he will be traded away to another MLS club? Let me know in the comments!
