MLS Fantasy - Week 5 Review; Week 6 Preview

Fantasy MLS in Round 5 was a good week, but not a great one. Two of my players made it on the weekly Dream Team: Jeff Larentowicz and Fernando Aristeguieta. I scored 50 points for the week, a little above the weekly average of 43.

Round 5 Highlights

In Round 5 my highest scorer was Kaka with 10 points--I think that because Kaka is my captain he gets double points. Everyone on the pitch scored for me, but I was very disappointed after Friday night that I didn't swap out my goalkeeper. I have Bill Hamid on my bench, who had an absolutely phenomenal match against my beloved Orlando City squad in Week 5.

Round 6 Transfers and Roster

For Round 6 the change in the MLS schedule caught me out this week. I didn't realize matches started on Wednesday night, so by the time I got around to checking my lineup on Friday I could not do any transfers, but I could make my substitutions.

For those substitutes, I swapped out my goalkeeper to put Bill Hamid in net for me, and I changed out Jose Villareal because he has a hamstring injury. In his place I put Mix Diskerud of NYCFC. Finally, I swapped out Jeff Larentowicz whose team is off this week, and I placed Axel Sjoberg in his place.

So for Round 6, this is how my roster looks:

Goalkeeper: Bill Hamid (DC United)

Defenders: Michael Harrington (Colorado Rapids), Axel Sjoberg (Colorado Rapids), and Brek Shea (Orlando City SC)

Midfielders: Ryan Hollingshead (FC Dallas), Mix Diskerud (NYCFC), Kaka (Orlando City SC), Kevin Molino (Orlando City SC), and Servando Carrasco (Sporting Kansas City)

Forwards: Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy) and Fernando Aristeguieta (Philadelphia Union)

This week I paid for playing the averages and not checking the Fantasy Site before Wednesday. Now I have a reminder set to make me go look at the site and set my lineup on Tuesdays, with another couple of reminders during the week to check for injury reports and coaching decisions. I think I also was hurt by swapping out one of my players for Sjoberg, because I don't believe he saw the pitch in Week 6 for the match against FC Dallas.

How is your fantasy MLS team doing? Did you suffer during the International Call-up period or did you manage to score high points for the season as well?
