Sub-in Notes is my name for the "late breaking" news that comes out on the eve of the match. In this column, I talk about what was learned during the week and predict a starting formation/lineup for Orlando City.
Scheduling news came out on Thursday that the kickoff for the match at NYCFC has been moved back. Originally the game was supposed to start at 3:30 pm, but with it being a nationally-televised match on Univision Deportes, the match has been pushed back to 3:55 pm to better accommodate the broadcast.
Five Players out for Week Three... Maybe More
"End of the month" is still the official line on the return of players who came into the season with injuries. And while I am loathed to trust what is on the MLS injury report, Dom Dwyer, Uri Rosell, and Josue Colman are still not expected to make a return until the first International Break of the MLS season. There was news (and a photo or two) this week from The Orlando Sentinel's Jordan Culver that Colman and Dwyer are training with the team. Honestly, I think trying to bring them back for this week's match at Yankee Stadium would be a sign of panic, and I don't believe there's a cause for that just yet.
There has been no news from the club if Dillon Powers is ready to return, but he has disappeared off the MLS injury report. And again, the Sentinel has reported as late as Thursday that there is still no firm news on the extent of Stefano Pinho's injury. But I have to imagine that he is not going to travel or be available for the game this week.
The best news for fans this week, of course, is the return of Sacha Kljestan from suspension. And PC will also be available for selection this week as well after serving his one-match red card suspension against MNUFC. In addition, there are three players that will be serving suspensions this week and will be unavailable to play. But Pierre DaSilva is still suspended for an incident in the pre-season match with Philadelphia. My unofficial list of those expected to be unavailable for health or suspension includes the following:
Dom Dwyer - Quad Strain
Uri Rosell - Fitness
Josue Colman - Quad/Thigh Contusion
Pierre DaSilva - Suspension (game 3 of 3)
Stefano Pinho - Foot/Ankle
Dillon Powers - ??
Earlier in the week, I mentioned three players I thought would have to play a role to help Orlando City get a win, so I've got to put them in my starting lineup. I'm expecting Kljestan to make his first start and feature at the pointy end of the diamond formation. I'm also going to mix up the defense a bit from my previous projections and the lineups we have seen so far.
Tomorrow on the blog I will have my Preview & Prediction post along with any last, last-minute changes that the club announces from Friday's training. I also hope to do a facebook live preview with friends from the Lion's Pride Pub on Church Street tomorrow afternoon, which is where I plan to watch the match. You'll find my purple top hat and see my Instagram and Twitter posts in the leadup and during tomorrow's match.
Let me know what you think of the lineup. Do you agree with my predicted formation? Do you agree with my predicted Starting XI? If not, who do you think we'll see on the pitch tomorrow? Let me know in the comments below!
