Sub-in Notes is my name for the "late breaking" news that comes out on the eve of the match. In this column, I talk about what was learned during the week and predict a starting formation/lineup for Orlando City.
Seven Players out for Week Two... Maybe
Coach Jason Kreis confirmed earlier in the week that three of the team's injured players were ruled out for this week. Dom Dwyer, Uri Rosell, and Josue Colman are not expected to make a return until the first International Break of the MLS season, which comes at the end of the month. There has been no news from the club if Dillon Powers is ready to return, so I have to conclude he is still recovering from his ankle injury in preseason as well. In addition, there are three players that will be serving suspensions this week and will be unavailable to play. The list of those expected to be unavailable for health or suspension includes the following:
- Sacha Kljestan - Suspension (game 2 of 2)
- Dom Dwyer - Quad Strain
- Dillon Powers - Ankle
- Uri Rosell - Fitness
- Josue Colman - Quad/Thigh Contusion
- Pierre DaSilva - Suspension (game 2 of 3)
- Victor "PC" Giro - Red Card Suspension (game 1 of 1)
Earlier in the week, I mentioned three players I thought would have to play a role to help Orlando City get a win, so I've got to put them in my starting lineup. We know PC is suspended and won't be available, and I'm going to admit to being a bit stubborn about where I place players, especially since Justin Meram played the role of architect of scoring chances last week with both Sacha Kljestan and Josue Colman out of the lineup.
Tomorrow on the blog I will have my Preview & Prediction post along with any last, last-minute changes that the club announces from Friday's training. I also hope to do a facebook live preview with friends from the Lion's Pride Pub on Church Street tomorrow afternoon. You'll find my purple tophat and see my Instagram and Twitter posts in the leadup and during tomorrow's match.
Let me know what you think of the lineup. Do you agree with my predicted formation? Do you agree with my predicted Starting XI? If not, who do you think we'll see on the pitch tomorrow night? Let me know in the comments below.
