Divine Thursday - Locate Object: https://www.dndbeyond.com/spells/locate-object
Locate Object is a spell that allows the caster to find a known object, as long as it is within 1000 feet at the time of casting. The catch is that the caster has to be personally familiar with the object, so it cannot be used to find an object that has been described to you.
There is an alternate use for the spell, in which the caster can find the closest object of a certain type, such as a piece of jewelry. an article of apparel, or a tool. It seems like a devious DM could use this alternate use of the spell to mess with a PC. For instance, if the party is looking for a ring, then the spell might detect the closest ring being worn by a party member instead of the one in question.
What is the most creative use you have seen for this spell in a game you have played?
