There are 40 days between the first day of the 2015 MLS playoffs on October 28 and the MLS championship on December 6. Orlando City may not be in the playoffs this year, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to reflect on the year that was 2015 and the highs and lows. In addition, I'll be including my evaluation of each player from the first team roster.
Day 3: Most Thrilling Goal of the Season
So I have to admit this was the most fun and one of the more difficult "best of" posts to decide, since I had to go back and look at all the goals scored by Orlando City players all season. Call me an uneducated fan if you will, but I like those shot from long range that have movement on the ball, so I had to pick a shot from range.
My choice is the 2nd goal for Orlando City in the match against Chicago Fire on June 6. You might have guessed that this goal was scored by Cyle Larin (who led all Orlando City players in scoring this season). But you might not have guessed that Eric Avila got the assist on that goal. This was a classic "banana-curve" goal that was shot from just outside the top of the box and beat the keeper to the left-side post, just brushing the goalkeeper's fingertips and squeezing inside the post.
