2015 in Review Day 8 of 40: "Use the Force" Luke Boden

There are 40 days between the first day of the 2015 MLS playoffs on October 28 and the MLS championship on December 6. Orlando City may not be in the playoffs this year, but I thought it would be a good opportunity to reflect on the year that was 2015 and the highs and lows. In addition, I'll be including my evaluation of each player from the first team roster.

Day 8: "Use the Force" Luke Boden 2015 in Review

Over the next few days, I'll review the season statistics for each player on the 2015 Orlando City first team. We'll look at some key metrics, key moments, and my expectations for 2016. These posts are in alphabetical order, so next up is Luke Boden.

2015 Summary: Luke Boden has been a fan favorite in Orlando for many years. When he started taking corner kicks for Orlando City during the 2015 season, I gave him the nickname "Use the Force" to try to get him to place the ball head height in front of the mouth of the goal where I always like to see a set piece kick delivered.

Boden has played in Orlando since 2011, appearing in 82 games for the USL Orlando City squad from 2011 - 2014. He was one of only a handful of players to make the transition from USL to MLS with the club, and he may have had the most appearances of any of those players, especially given the early season injury to Kevin Molino.

2016 Prediction: I think Boden is likely to be back with the first team next season, barring some kind of trade. He started off seeming a little bit out of his depth against MLS competition when the season began, but as the season rolled along his skills seemed to rise to the occasion and he was an integral part of the Orlando City defense.

What about you? Do you expect to see "Use the Force" Luke Boden back with the club next year and making a contribution? What were some of your favorite things about Boden's game from 2015--were there any moments that stood out for you? Weigh in with your thoughts in the comments below!
