2015 in Review Day 31: Sidney Rivera

Sidney Rivera was one of a tiny number of players that Coach Adrian Heath was able to send out on loan during 2015, and he played from May through July with Louisville City, before more injuries in Orlando caused the coach to recall him for possible emergency duty with the first team.

2015 Summary: It was clear that a number of players brought to MLS with Orlando City or acquired in the SuperDraft by the club were intended as developmental players, and Rivera was clearly one of those. From media reports he did get a chance to play and score in Louisville City, but the fact that he spent the last three months back in Orlando and did not get on the pitch indicates to me that the coaches did not think he was quite ready for MLS.

2016 Prediction: If Sidney Rivera is with the club, next season, I would think he almost has to start the year with OCB since he didn't get a full season in Louisville. If he has a chance to play for the USL side and shows some good form, then there is a chance we will see him during International Call-ups or filling in for any injuries that are suffered on the first team in the MLS side.

What about you? Do you think Rivera will be back with Orlando City in 2016? Would you like to see him playing on the MLS side, or do you think he should get some more time with the USL club first? Let me know in the comments!
