2015 in Review Day 35: Adrian Winter

Swiss Midfielder Adrian Winter was a mid-season acquisition whose presence on the pitch was felt right away. Winter added some much-needed depth in terms of experience and contributed by scoring, providing assists, and launching counter-attacks.

2015 Summary: Winter joined the club in July along with David Mateos after Orlando City parted ways with a couple of players involved in off-field incidents during a road trip to play NYCFC. With his experience in UEFA and Swiss Super League play, Winter was able to provide an immediate level of depth and maturity to a club that struggled with both youth and injury throughout most of the 2015 season. His energy lifted the club immediately and brought a spark of life to a side that had hit a midseason slump. After acclimating to the Florida heat and the MLS travel schedule, Winter's presence with the club helped Orlando City to finish the year strong, winning 5 of their last 6 matches.

2016 Projection: Winter is fun to watch, and I hope he will be able to stay with the team through the off-season free agency and trade period. However, as someone who does not have any long-standing ties to the club, he is another one of those solid skill players who may wind up being packaged with an underperforming player on the roster in a trade that could bring back quality to the Orlando City side as they prepare for their second MLS campaign.

What do you think? Do you want to see Adrian Winter back in Orlando City purple for the 2016 season? Let me know in the comments!
