It's Memorial Day weekend, and that means one thing. Sports, sports, and more sports! But this year we're less concerned with the twisty streets of Monaco or the famous yard of bricks in Indianapolis and we're more focused on lush emerald green rectangle of Levi Stadium in San Jose-Frisco. Since the blog is on a shoestring budget this spring, we're not flying out to the match and we're watching from Orlando tomorrow. But the question on everyone's mind is where?
In keeping with our tradition of watching away matches at participating City Pubs, tomorrow we are headed down to Johnny's Fillin Station off of Ferncreek. So if you're interested in being social and watching the match, come on out to Johnny's tomorrow and join us. Just look for the away kit, the top hat, and the Society XXI scarf. The match starts at 7:00pm Orlando time, but we'll be there a little earlier.
And if you're traveling this Memorial Day weekend, be safe and have fun, and take a moment to remember all the true heroes who have sacrificed years and in some cases made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country. In fact, because it's Memorial Day we'd like to extend this offer to followers and fans of the blog. The Lion's Teeth blog will buy dinner and drinks for the first veteran with their military ID who shows up to watch the match with our group. It's the least we can do to say thank you for what you've done for the rest of us.
There's a great preview of tomorrow's match up on the Orlando City web site. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing if Cyle Larin can continue his impressive scoring streak, which is up to three MLS matches in a row. I'm also curious to see how much Martin Paterson may be able to get into the game this week.
What about you? Who are you looking forward to seeing on the pitch for Orlando City tomorrow? Is there someone you are looking forward to seeing play for the purple in San JoseFrisco this weekend? And remember this week's battle cry: #ShakeTheQuakes!
Have a great weekend and #VamosOrlando!
