Like a bear waking up from hibernation, it's time to dust off the blog for the 2016 season. Since we completed our Season Recap in early December, there has been a draft for MLS and NWSL, and the schedules have been released for the MLS side and for the USL team. The NWSL schedule should be released soon as well.
We've also seen some big announcements by the organization. The first announcement earlier in January was that Orlando City SC and the Orlando Pride will play the entire 2016 season in the Citrus Bowl, with the new soccer-specific stadium opening for the start of the 2017 season.
The second big announcement from yesterday was that Orlando City will be building a new training facility for the OCB and Orlando City SC sides out at Lake Nona. The Elite Youth Academy will also train at the new facility, which will be part of the Lake Nona Sports & Performance District. The Orlando Pride will continue to train at the Sylvan Lake Training Center in Seminole County, where the team has been training since Orlando City SC first came to Central Florida.
We're also working on gearing up our staff for the Lion's Teeth so we can provide more coverage this season for all the clubs. Being a one man band in 2015 was fun, but there's going to be far too much going on in 2016 for one person to cover. I'm also getting my gear together. I've started shopping for some new grill accessories to enhance the tailgating for the new season, and I've ordered some new match day shoes and I'm looking for some more match day headgear.
