Sub-in Notes is my name for the "late breaking" news that comes out on the eve of the match. In this column, I talk about what was learned during the week and predict a starting formation/lineup.
Five Players out for Opener
Coach Jason Kreis announced earlier in the week that four players were ruled out for the season opener. There were rumors that another player or two had picked up knocks in training, but as of composing this entry, we know of only five players that have been declared unavailable for selection:
- Sacha Kljestan - Suspension
- Dom Dwyer - Quad Strain
- Dillon Powers - Ankle
- Uri Rosell - Fitness
- Josue Colman - Quad/Thigh Contusion
Earlier in the week, I mentioned three players I thought would have to play a role to help Orlando City get a win, so I've got to put them in my starting lineup. This may be a bit of a gamble since there are two new faces to MLS up top, but I'm going to predict a 4 - 4 (diamond) - 2 formation to start the season.
Tomorrow on the blog I will have a score prediction and any last, last-minute changes that the club announces from Friday's training. I am downtown tonight for the Pub Crawl, so look for the big purple tophat in the sea of humanity.
Let me know what you think of the lineup. Do you agree with my predicted formation? Do you agree with my predicted Starting XI? If not, who do you think we'll see on the pitch tomorrow night? Let me know in the comments below.
